Reviews and crap - Brooks socks and Nathan bottle
I had to remedy my water bottle situation, and fast. I’ve been running with a random 20 oz bottle ala a Dasani bottle or the like. While it’s fine for a quick run, anything over a few miles it becomes cumbersome and a pain in the ass. Not to mention running for two minutes in 95+ degree Texas heat the mix of sweat and sunscreen, the bottle just gets nasty. Just about everywhere carries the Nathan Quickdraw bottle but RunningWarehouse accepted paypal so I went with them. Here’s a pic:
Today I tried it out for the first time on a quick sub 6 mile run. Worked out great. Allegedly it’s 22 oz which is perfect. There are smaller bottles but the last thing I need, or don’t need rather, is less water! Figuring the small pocket will be nice for some quick grub on longer runs. Not quite seeing it but I may be able to cram a slice of pizza in there…more on that later. One small note, the mouth piece is rubber which on most pull-top bottles like this they’re plastic. I think that’s a good modification as if you’re running while drinking, like we all do, zero chance of knocking out a chicklet from the bottle top… I mean, I’ve never had to stop running to basically check the functionality of my front tooth at all and make sure it was still there… never. This will be one of the better $15 investments I’ve made.
For s&g’s I was looking through the socks and found these on sale. I’m a big fan of Feetures no-show tab socks but at ~$10 a pair I’ll get them when I need them. I would otherwise disregard these socks as crap if only looking at the deal (3 pack for $10) but they’re Brooks so I know they’re going to be legit. Wore these for the first time today as well. Not too bad at all. They’re a little bit thicker than the Feetures and maybe not as “technical” as well for lack of a better term; lacking the bands, but they’re really comfortable. The tab didn’t slide down as well which was great.
Always fun trying out some new gear!
