USA Science & Engineering Festival

My daughter is visiting this today for a field trip. A wee bit jealous. She knows that the MythBusters guys and Bill Nye will be there. Bill Nye the Science Guy!!! She did not appreciate my enthusiasm for possibly talking/listening to Bill Nye.

I don’t know much about the festival as it’s only the 2nd annual so I can only go by what’s presented on the site. At this point, I think anything that attempts to get kids pumped up about science in generally is worth it. Public school does a shit job, as they do with just about everything else now, so it has become necessary to have these type things.

I told her I wanted a 10-page review in my inbox by COB.

Two things: Text from daughter with pic of Bill Nye. “He’s old” “He has almost gray hair…” Baby steps, I suppose- she’ll come around.

Also, I should note, my comment above regarding public school science is entirely directed at the system, not necessarily the teachers. Given a bit of autonomy developing their own curriculum, I doubt we’d have these problems.
