USATF Olympic Trials, Eugene, Oregon
Save for the sprint events, the distance races, obviously, are my favorite. Last night’s 5K finals were pretty amazing. The dudes finish was ridiculous as Bernard Lagat, who’s 37 by the way, threw in his kick towards the final straight-away, moving ahead of Galen Rupp. Probably with about 10 meters left, Rupp passed Lagat to lean for the finish. Consequently, Rupp set the meet record,...

The United States of War →
This will be my longest post ever, purposely. This list was compiled by Richard Grimmett, National Defense Specialist and can be found here for further explanation under each instance. The linked title was an interesting opinion on the matter as well. The list below outlines every military conflict or potential conflict. It should come as no surprise to most of us. We’ve been in some sort...

Tips for summer running in the south:
1.) Get your affairs in order. 2.) Say goodbye to your loved ones. 3.) Commence with march to instant, face-melting death. There are no tips. Perhaps if you spend your winters on Mercury you have a chance at survival.

Thoughts on SCOTUS & ACA
I require oxygen and I am an American citizen. These are the requirements for our “representative” government, albeit owned/run by corporate interests, can force me into a financial obligation with a private entity. This sets an outrageous precedent and there is nothing in our history which compares. Not car insurance nor the law in colonial times to own firearms. This is different,...

National Coalition "Just Label It" Urges Defeat of... →
AKA the “Monsanto Protection Act”. Once again, a perversion of language and jargon aimed at duping the American public (and perhaps many politicians) into believing this is some sort of benefit to the American “farmer”, which has become a perversion unto itself.

History Lesson: Dimmit's Goliad Flag
If the one or two folks reading wonder what my profile picture is, here is an excerpt from the following Texas A&M site: Dimmit’s Goliad Flag
This militant and defiant banner, designed by Goliad garrison commander, Captain Phillip Dimmitt, dramatically reflected the political shift of Texians and Captain Dimmitt away from support of the independent statehood of Texas in the Mexican...

Libertarians, GMOs, and then my thoughts
JulieBorowski Libertarians should oppose any government mandate forcing food companies to label GMOs. http://t.co/UhoimFSB #tlot 6/25/12 10:53 AM
Above is a tweet from a Libertarian, Julie Borowski, whom I follow and generally agree with some of what she posts, as I do with more than a few Libertarian views. However, this is one I vehemently disagree with. Here’s why. (Long, and...

USATF's Dead Heat Procedure Explained | Flotrack →
Coin toss or Run-off. I love the comments… a kid explained to his dad the coin toss procedures read like that of the “holy hand grenade” from Monty Python. Perfect! As goofy as it seems to determine an Olympic slot by coin toss, if both athletes agree to the procedure, it’s hard to argue against.

Review of "Madagascar 3"
Unofficial, unsolicited, & unprofessional. And spoilers to boot! Incidentally, for me, it was Madagascar 1. I got the premise, however, rather quickly. A group of animals, who somehow escaped, were napped, or voluntarily left the Central Park Zoo, are trying to return to said zoo. Wackiness ensues on their journey, this time beginning in Africa. I did not see this on my own accord, rather,...

Running Warehouse Return Policy →
Remember before when I mentioned RoadRunnerSports 90-day VIP return policy? It looks like Running Warehouse has locked in step. This is great news as the two primary online sites I buy my running gear are Running Warehouse and Road Runner Sports. Both have their benefits and run some amazing deals from time to time.

Senate: GMO labeling not in the states' authority →
Your state representatives, folks! Round of applause… Clearly, the federal government wants complete authority to kibosh any attempt to benefit the health and wellbeing of the American citizen, or at least our ability to be fully informed. Who do they work for? WHO BENEFITS?

The abridged version. I haven’t watched much of the finals at all so I missed the Sonics zombie! Love it. And if you haven’t watched Sonicsgate, you’re doing it wrong. girlfriendsguide:
Well, if you’re like me, you’ve been alternating time between the NBA finals and the fascinating season of baseball of which we are just about at the halfway point. My team, the New York...

Back from the dead
Or Washington, D.C. rather. There’s so much I could get into about this trip but honestly don’t have energy to put forth the effort. A few highlights, however, are required. I’ve made just about every possible version of the drive in between Texas and DC, roughly all of them too many times. The drive sucks pretty much any way you drive it. Beats flying though! I did, however,...
Marriott Fail
Over the years I’ve accumulated more Marriott points than other chains. I’ve generally had good experiences otherwise. More than a few times, however, the free breakfast I usually don’t eat is coupled with Fox News on the tele. I want to go apeshit and smash this tv! Time to roll!!!
Road Trip Notes v4
26+ straight hours of driving, give or take. Over 1400 miles, still a buck and change to go. Not the best time ever.
There may be a lengthy interstate driving bitch post to follow if I find the energy.
Waynesboro, VA. Hello. Later.
I’ve drank perhaps 200 oz coffee. That could be shortchanging it.
Road Trip Notes v3
Somewhere near the border of Bama and Georgia. It’s is 1:51a EST. Nearly 2/3 way there.
Gas is $3.09 here. Sad state where 3 buck gas is good news.
This drive blows.
Road Trip Notes v2
About to cross the Ole Mississippi into MS, hooray for me. I swear, you could drop an A-bomb on this part of the country and you wouldn’t know the difference. No offense,
XM working out well in this rental Mazda 3. Save for the two Euro matches earlier, it’s been almost straight Liquid Metal!

Review of "Prometheus"
Unofficial, unsolicited, & unprofessional. Saw the $7.50 matinee first thing Saturday morning. My very first thought upon leaving the theater: “This is the last time I will hype myself up for a movie, ever!” I cannot remember if I’ve previously had this thought… In the end, my pre-delusions have probably clouded my overall feeling on the movie, unfortunately. Trying...

Fact #28
Proper table etiquette during the day here include eating with fingers and licking the plate. Most meals are sans table and as it would be sans pants. If I intended not to eat that bit of guacamole on the plate I would’ve left it in the container. Once again, I needn’t explain myself in these situations.

Because of running:
If you’ve ever visited this page, you know a couple of things about me. My love of running should be abundantly clear. I’ve made this no secret. I love most things about running in fact, all of the benefits included. I’m going to put this out there, however: There is a large percentage segment of my love of running which is entirely necessary so I can drink copious amounts of...

What you need to know about the Farm Bill 2012 →
Fairly certain I’ve used this superlative previously. How could I not? But the Farm Bill is the most important piece of legislation that this, and perhaps the next few congresses will vote on. It’s easy to be complacent and/or ignorant of the bill. Admittedly, I knew nothing of the previous bill. Had someone mentioned it, I probably would have the same reaction as most Americans...

Redefining 'cool', or something else
Because San Antonio and the Sun enjoy similar temperatures, I’m forced to run with a bandana. Sweatband to come… now, bandana it is. This got me thinking… who has ever pulled off the bandana look with success? Certainly, Willy comes to mind as perhaps the most enduring figure. Is the bandana, is the weed, both? Young Mike Muir, however, I’m fairly certain old Mike Muir...

History Lesson: Sons of Liberty
Long, but very good and just as important. awicg:
1765 Broadside
The Sons of Liberty were a political group made up of American patriots that originated in the pre-independence North American British colonies. The group was formed to protect the rights of the colonists from the usurpations by the British government after 1766. They are best known for undertaking the Boston Tea Party in...
