Lame, smart, or just old.
Why is it when you generally make the right decision it’s most likely the opposite of what you’d rather? I had a conversation with myself today, in fact, with my future self. I have been planning on seeing Between the Buried and Me since I decided to make the trip out here to Seattle. I’ve since decided to run a marathon the next morning in Tacoma. I had it figured that...

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
Terminal A, is a dump. Just sayin’. Seattle, soon we visit again. (Edited) If you get onto a plane and do not know your seat, I hate your guts!

Deliv'errr'ed or not?
I will readily admit 97% of my purchases come from the ole World Wide Web. My hatred of strip malls and the humans inhabiting them coupled with a just as fervent dislike of anything traffic, I will gladly pay what I call the “convenience charge” usually perpetuated through exorbitant shipping charges or just a higher priced item. The downfall, naturally, is that while I have the...

Fact #13
One of my most hated phrases is “call me back”. Let me explain. My INTP friend(s) will appreciate. I get a call. Naturally, I ignore it because I hate talking on the phone that much (family generally excluded). If it’s important they’ll leave a message. Oh, it was important; indeed there’s a message. The message is “hey, it’s ___, give me a call back when...

Thoughts on playoffs.
On the Buffalo Sabres offseason pt.1— The link to WGR provides a current UFA/RFA list. Buffalo has one of the larger lists on the page at 16 names total. After some quick consideration and from my own observations this season, just by that list only, here’s what I think: Stay- Stafford, Gerbe, Butler, Gragnani, Enroth, Ellis, Mancari Go- Connolly, Grier, Niedermayer, Montador,...

Brains... or lack thereof
I’ve posted recently that I was going to take advantage of my Seattle trip next week and run the Tacoma City Half Marathon. Why not right? I was pumped to have the opportunity.  That was then… After some consideration I’m deciding to run the marathon. I will probably regret this decision as I’m still probably a good two or maybe three weeks behind where I should probably be...

Fact #12
I hate, detest, loathe running with a bunch of gear! Today I ran home from work. Had a small pack with me… this one to be exact. It’s a badass, uber light and cheap pack actually. It is, however, like all it’s brothers and sisters, quite annoying whilst on a run. I just can’t take all the crap. That with the headphones… too much crap flopping around. Forgot the watch...

US scientists get glimpse of antihelium →
hollytreee: Best news of the day? I think so! I’m still looking for antiJames. He runs real fast, has hair and a proper nose. He’s out there, and I’m going to kick his ass!

Breathe. Control. Run.
Last week I ran into Maryland. Today, I decided to take the northern route and venture into D.C. Here it is in the Flotrackr. I figured I’d just take the 14th St Bridge and turnaround at Thos Jefferson. I ended up rolling a little farther up to Mr. Lincoln and took the Memorial Bridge back into VA. Next time I’d like to run the National Mall and before turning back. Lately I’ve...

Tracking your run.
Running statistics, nerd fodder at it’s best! I’ve been using RunKeeper for a while, which has been great. I started using it on the iPhone and as a mobile tracking application it performed better than I expected. However, a few runs last summer in Houston changed that. Apparently my man-sweat wanted to penetrate the armband and actually start to corrode the headphone jack. I’m...

Depleting the Glycogen Stores...
Or what little I had the first place. I decided to open it up a little bit and just see how far I could maintain a fast pace for. Fast for me, of course, which is not saying much at all…for distance at least. I felt good throughout but was a little bit surprised I had a collective sub 7:40 pace. There are some parts in my normal routes which I can race through and others that are either...

Album for April Twenty, Two Thousand and Eleven. I can basically throw this song (The Levitated) on a loop and let it go. These guys are legit. No lyrics, just jamming out. More bday presents from over two weeks ago indeed; an iTunes gift card from my little sis. Had it saved for something… this is it. I will purchase this album tonight. Have a listen here if you choose: Scale the Summit....

Lesson of the Day
The answer to any question can always be answered with one of three responses: ‘1.21 gigawatts’ or jigawatts; ‘Carbonite’; or ‘3.14159. One of three outcomes will inevitably result: 1) If you’re right, it was the best question ever asked. 2) If you’re wrong and they know what you’re saying, they’ll laugh and appreciate the humor. 3) If...

Thoughts on DC running.
More specifically, I suppose, Alexandria VA running. DC works better in the title though. While I generally detest most of the area surrounding Washington, D.C., I can say I do love Old Town Alexandria. I haven’t done so yet but from my house I can run 5+ miles north and end up in DC; 5 miles south and I can be in MD; or five miles anywhere else and stay in VA. You cannot say that about too...

Running math.
Let me break some knowledge down right here. Shaved head + sun - hat - sunscreen + 15 miles = stupid. Decided to break another cardinal sin today while I was at it. First run in the new Brooks, decided to roll with the longest run if the year. Pretty good break-in eh? Stupid. I had actually planned to get closer to 20 today but it was actually starting to hurt my feet a bit so decided to wise...

A few quick NHL notes...
1) I cannot tell if Washington is playing that well or if New York is playing that bad. Quite possibly a combo of both. Either way NYR look like ass. 2) It may be just me but the Vancouver vs Chicago games are on another level of hockey. I don’t think it’s me because I felt the same way last season and Chicago pretty much rolled to the Cup. Maybe it’s just those two but the games...

I'm putting tax $ to good use...promise. →
I’ve actually worked fairly hard today at doing nothing that remotely resembles work what-so-ever. One site I’ve logged some time has been the linked, specifically the international races. Thinking of where I’d like to run… Edinburgh would have to be a #1 seed. Moscow, because I’m fascinated by anything Russian may be another #1 or a high #2 seed. I would like to go...

New Book by Dr. Ron Paul →
Liberty Defined. April 19, 2011. I highly recommend reading his book ‘The Revolution’. I’ve read it twice and will undoubtedly read again. I generally can’t stand all things politics and I’m neither Republican or Democrat so I’m coming not from a specific side. This is a must read and from the sounds of it ‘Liberty Defined’ will be yet another.

If I had $5
For every rubber wrapper I see on my 10-minute walk home from the metro, I’d have a lot of dollars! I mean, I guess I should applaud their proper use of protection, but the litter…sheesh.

Fact #11
I hate The Ramones. A sacrilegious statement in some circles. I don’t care. There are a ton of bands I hate and a ton of music I cannot stand but this one I’m probably supposed to like because of some of the other stuff I’ve always been into. I do not like them. I don’t like their schtick; I don’t like their hair; and I certainly don’t like their music. Sue me.

The Run, April 14
It’s apparent I will have to wake up at, oh I dunno, 4am in order to bust through 10-15 miles on a week morning. That, of course, will not happen. Just not down with 4am anymore. 5 is bad enough! My internal distance meter is off by ~ a mile. I always think I’m about a mile more than I am, even at my sorry pace this morning. More to make up later I suppose. I love running in the...
