MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Frank Buckles, the last surviving U.S. veteran of World War I, has died. He was 110.
Buckles, who also survived being a civilian POW in the Philippines in World War II, died peacefully of natural causes early Sunday at his home in Charles Town, biographer and family spokesman David DeJonge said in a statement. Buckles turned 110 on Feb....

Metro Thoughts
So, whilst waiting for my Blue Line today, a rather long wait actually, I was thinking… Well, actually it was the fella yelling about God and Jesus asking for forty cents that spurred my thoughts. I wonder, do nutters know their crazy? I mean, would I know it if I were crazy? Those who are nutters have been that way for a while I guess, but do they have the thought process that whatever...

A Rare Perfect Sports Night
We had all media rolling last night. Unfortunately, the “sports package” which Dish offers, which we pay for, blacks out most of the NHL/NBA games even though I’m not in the area where they’re shown on local networks… that’s a whole different story. So I had to have the Sabres v Thrashers game refreshing on the iPhone. We also had San Antonio Spurs’ first...

It’s now the official beer of the league. This is my official favorite line in the article:
“Hockey fans are big beer drinkers. In fact, we have data that shows hockey fans are the biggest beer drinkers of any major sports league.”

To Celebrate The Buffalo Sabres Sale...
Figured I’d give a few of the lesser known facts about the new owner… 1. Terry Pegula doesn’t read books, he just stares them down until he gets the information he wants out of them. 2. Some kids can piss their name in the snow. Terry Pegula can piss his name into concrete. 3. Terry Pegula can sneeze with his eyes open. 4. If Terry Pegula is late, time better slow the fu*k down!...

Joke of the Day
Today there are a few but I think this one made me laugh the most… Jim Calhoun suspended for the first three Big East games next season for his “failing to create an atmosphere of compliance”. What a riot that is. Thinking if it were lesser of a NCAA golden boy the punishment as we well as the wording would have been a wee bit harsher. Kudos to the NCAA Infractions...
I said my goal is to try to win a Cup. I might die trying to win a Cup here.

The Pegula Era Begins: What Changes Do You Want? →
paulgaustadisasuperhero:
WGR550 Radio had a segment the other day, where they talked about (and had fans call in) about things they want to see changed under Pegula, particularly things in the arena, since he has ownership now. I didn’t hear the segment, but it got me thinking: what would I change?

Lagwagon - Mr. Coffee
Morning has broken Mr. Coffee has spoken The familiar wake-up call sings to my ears I wake with a shrug To the floor with a thud Where in this hellhole is my coffee mug? I can now face the day on legal speed (The American way) I’m sketching I’m seizing I’m spazing I’m shaking I can not stop spilling on my brand new shirt I-I-I’m wired I’m...

Metro Bollocks Vol. 1
I urge anyone, anywhere to find a more mismanaged, inefficient, costly and annoying public transportation system than our nation’s capitol MetroRail. I could not even imagine a more inept system which has one specific duty, to transport people from one predetermined point to another point. I can fully understand, and even expect mechanical difficulties once in a while as well as unplanned...
